Summertime in Minnesota. For many of us that means it’s time to head for the cabin, take a vacation, or spend as much time outside of the house and outside of our normal routine as possible. It also means many of us won’t be at church every Sunday, and some of us won’t see each other until September! (consistently. )
How do we stay connected over the summer? How do we stay connected to God and deepen our faith? Faith doesn’t take a vacation, does it? How do we stay connected to each other—our spiritual community?
This summer we are going to address these questions with a worship series called
Faithbook, based on the popular internet social networking site—Facebook. In order for us stay connected and share our faith stories we have created a
Facebook page called
Faithbook@GRACE and we invite everyone who has internet access to join in the conversation. All you have to do is click on the link found at the bottom of this page to get there. If you don’t have a
Facebook account, you will be guided through some simple instructions before you access our
Faithbook@GRACE page.
There are two kinds of stories we hope to hear:
God’s story in scripture: Our sermon series will highlight stories from the Gospel of Luke. Each week the teaching pastor will post some information about the person and story found in that week’s passage. He will also post discussion questions and invites you to join in.
God’s story in YOU: You are invited to share stories of how God has worked and is working in your life. Big or little, every story is worth telling. Log on and share your story, stay connected, encourage each other, and, hey, while you’re at it, upload some photos from the cabin!
This could be a fun and meaningful way to share in God’s story and stay connected to one another over the summer months. Don’t forget, though, there’s nothing like the real thing. If you’re in town, let’s gather together and worship God in real space. If you’re out of town, we’ll see you in cyberspace.
