Getting in Shape for the Coming Year
It’s the end of 2007 and the beginning of a new year. I hope that you had an opportunity to celebrate the birth of our Savior with your family and friends, and that Jesus touched you in some way through worship at Grace.
The end of the year is also an opportunity to “give thanks” for the many ways that God has blessed us this past year. He has supported our family at Grace as we have embarked on new ministries of outreach, through our missions and in our commitment to tithe 10% of our income to benevolence. We are nearly complete in the physical renovation of our facilities, and we are much better prepared to grow our ministries and serve our local community at Round Lake Blvd and Bunker Lake Blvd.
Most importantly, we have re-invested in our human resources at Grace, by hiring a full time Associate Pastor, Youth Director, Music Director and part-time Christian Education staff and Communications Coordinator. We are fully staffed at Grace for the first time in several years, and have truly assembled a team to help us grow as Christians in 2008!
So what does the Lord have in store for us? After a year of re-building and re-investing in 2007, we are poised for growth in 2008! It will be a time for each of us to grow in our relationships with the new staff we have on board. They will need our prayers, support, and participation in ministries they are working to develop and grow.
The challenge for our family at Grace, will be to grow in our financial commitment to support the staff and ministries that we now have in place! It will be a year for each of us to focus on our own spiritual and financial fitness, and make a few changes in our lives. Consider taking the Good $ense Money Management Course or the Life Keys Course that will be taught by Sue Richardson. Either one would be a great way to get the new year off on the “right foot” and improve your spiritual fitness!
Finally, it has been about 10 years since we created a vision for Grace through the Vision 2000 Mission Statement. Many ministries have been created from this vision.
In 2008 we will begin to envision and discern what the Lord has in store for us over the next five to ten years. Will we grow in serving others locally and globally? Will we expand our ministries through the Nightingale site to our local community? How do we equip our family to grow deeper in their faith and relationship with Christ? These questions will be considered as a church family, and we call upon your participation, prayers, and support!
Happy New Year and God bless you!
