My Christmas Wish

Maybe you’ve already got some. Christmas cards that is. If you’re like me, you’re wondering how do people get their cards out so early! Regardless, it reminds me that Advent is upon us. So, I want to pass along a Christmas wish for you. Well, actually  two!

My first Christmas wish is that we all, as a part of becoming more spiritually fit, will work to know what it is that God made us to do. We all have a life mission, some unique purpose that God designed us for. Each of us is individually gifted, wired and motivated. There is no exception and no escaping the fact that God created our DNA structure; placed dreams in our heart; gave us a unique set of life gifts; put a passion in our heart; equipped us with certain spiritual gifts; and made us for a job to do in His Kingdom.

Do you know yours? Are you living it?

Next year you’ll be hearing more about LifeKeys, a course that will help each of us figure those things out and come up with a life mission statement. Right now the staff is going through it and throughout 2008, all lay leaders, and the Vision Board, will be encouraged to complete the course. God has a unique redemptive mission for Grace, and it will take all of us determining what unique role we have in God’s Kingdom on earth and at Grace!

My second Christmas wish is that someday we can all be debt free. While that seems like an unattainable goal for many, it is possible. And, it’s what God wants for us. He doesn’t want us to be bound up by debt, anxious over money worries, or stressed out about how to pay the bills, save for retirement, pay for college, or one of the many other financial concerns. The burden of debt keeps us from being who God made us to be and doing what God calls us to.

Are you debt free? If not, imagine what being debt free would mean for your life?

As we work towards knowing and living our life mission and handling our resources in a God-honoring way, we’ll experience a more satisfying and fulfilling life as a disciple of Jesus. And that’s what God wants for us. It is possible, because with Christ who strengthens us, we can do all things!

For His Kingdom,
