Local Missions

The church has left the building (gone serving)
Wouldn’t it be great to hang a sign on our doors, “The church has left the building (gone serving).”

Grace offers many ways to put your faith into action to serve God beyond the walls of our church building: pound a hammer at Habitat for Humanity, serve the community at Family Table Meal, be God’s ambassador by packing meals at Feed My Starving Children, send an Operation Christmas Child shoe box, sew warm and comfortable quilts for people in need, pack items for our sister church in Tanzania, sponsor a child through Compassion International, be God’s loving arms in action as you prepare a meal at Our Savior’s homeless shelter or help organize our food shelf. You’ll also learn about ways to sponsor a youth for his/her summer mission trip experience or learn about the mission trip to Wilderness Canoe Base in northern Minnesota.

Yes, Grace is a wonderful place to worship and a great place to be ‘welcomed, encouraged and equipped’. The next step is the one beyond our walls to live God’s command and love our neighbors as ourselves. We’ll hang a sign on the door “the church has left the building ... gone serving!”

Compassion International
This outreach ministry provides one-to-one support to a needy child overseas through monthly sponsorship. Your small financial gift can change a life and provide opportunities to discover Jesus. This ministry has received the highest rating in financial stewardship, with over 83% of financial gifts used for the children. story»

Family Table Meal
The third Sunday each month, members of Grace prepare a home-cooked meal for those in the neighborhood. Volunteers work together to prepare and serve food and welcome guests. Serve once or on a monthly basis. For more information, e-mail Mary or Michelle.

Habitat for Humanity
Grace will be teaming up with Thrivent Builds again this year, helping construct Habitat homes in Ramsey. You are invited to work at the construction site for a day. Various tasks will be assigned and accomplished each day, like drywalling, painting, and installing windows. Beverage and food donations are needed to provide lunch for the volunteers.

Many families and small groups from Grace serve together. New volunteers are welcomed on a monthly or one-time basis. For more information about Our Savior's Shelter, contact Pete.

Flood of Love
Last summer Rushford was devastated by a flood on August 18—over 300 families lost their homes and many others lost their businesses and places of employment. Steve and Sue Karlson are Grace members who, at one time, lived in Rushford and have been compelled to help. They have spent several weekends cleaning basements, tearing down sheetrock and ripping up floors. Now that the demolition is almost done, the rebuilding will soon begin.

Through this experience, Steve and Sue learned of a church program called Flood of Love. This ministry helps connect groups of people who are willing to sponsor a family who lost their home. Thank you to everyone who donated supplies, gave gift cards and money to bless two families. Two truckloads of house-hold items were sent along with gift cards. story »
