Catechism
“But now you have arrived at your destination: By faith in Christ you are in direct relationship with God. Your baptism in Christ was not just washing you up for a fresh start. It also involved dressing you in an adult faith wardrobe—Christ’s life, the fulfillment of God’s original promise.”
-Galatians 3:25-27 (The Message).
Our Catechism ministry is for students in grades 6-8. In preparation for Confirmation, 6th to 8th grade students embark on a three-year faith journey to Year of Discernment. We meet Wednesdays at 6:30-8:15pm during the school year. We challenge both our heads and hearts as we examine our faith and corresponding actions. We'll begin in a large group and then break into age- and gender-specific small groups for reflection and discussion.
Students have numerous opportunities to grow, including regular large group worship, small group discussions, Sunday morning Bible Study, Camp Wapo, The Quake, service opportunities such as Feed My Starving Children and fun activities like our Halloween Party, Movie Night and more.
Year of Discernment
Students in their last year before Confirmation, enter a "year of discernment". During this year, youth discover, through experiencing and reflecting, what it means to confirm their faith in Jesus and experience what being an “adult” in the church is about. The goal is to develop tools for youth to continue their faith journey long after Confirmation. Three retreats will be held during the year of discernment: one in the fall, winter and spring before Confirmation. For more information, contact CT Harris
Outpost
“outpost” is our Sunday morning program for Middle and High School students during the school year. This is an opportunity to go deeper into the Bible and learn from each other. Most weeks we will meet together as a large group, have time for discussion and interaction and then split up into various age groups for a specific lesson. For more information, contact CT Harris.
Youth Room
A big screen TV, comfortable couches and chairs, foosball table, myriad board games, PS2 and video games, snacks and a full size fridge for pop/water, and much more. The Youth Room has become our very own “locker room” and we love it. Thank you to those of you who have generously donated to these efforts; it makes a huge difference to have a place for students to call their own.
